Mila Kunis Talks Pregnancy Cravings, Engagement on ‘Ellen’

In an Interview set to air on Friday, Mila Kunis opens up with Ellen about how she is handling the pregnancy.

The Ted actress admits to having the stereotypical cravings, with hers leaning more towards vinegar based foods — specifically pickles and sauerkraut. In fact, she adds, she eats sauerkraut all day long!

“This is the worst craving to have because sauerkraut smells and so every time you open up a jar it just reeks in the whole kitchen…It’s not like ice cream where everything smells lovely.”

Luckily for Mila, Ellen happened to have some sauerkraut and pickles on-hand to share with the star, who picked up a bowl of sauerkraut and started eating it raw.

Kunis also shared her fiancé, Ashton Kutcher, has been very helpful through the process.

“He assumed that I was gonna have goofy cravings, so he stocked our secondary fridge with weird food. Just like pickles, and sauerkraut, or like anchovies, and ice creams, just in case at one point during this pregnancy I’d be like, ‘I really want something.’ And it happened last week. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I need a pickle!’ It was just the weirdest thing, like I needed this pickle. And he was like, ‘Hold on a second,’ and disappeared in the backyard and came back with the most amazing dill pickle of all time.”

After watching documentaries, the couple has decided to use a midwife in a hospital. Kunis would like the birth to be as natural as possible, unless there is an emergency. As she explains it, “I mean, I did this to myself, I might as well do it right. I wanted this. It’s not like no one made me do this.”

The couple is keeping the sex, name and due date a secret. The most Ellen could get out of Kunis about the due date was, “sometime this year, I promise you.”

She also opened up about her engagement to Kutcher. “We were able to keep this private for two months—two months without anybody knowing. I think everybody assumed we’ve been engaged for so long that I was wearing the ring in public for two months and no photograph was ever…like nobody ever commented on a single photograph,” the expectant mother explained.

The Ukraine-born and Russian-speaking actress also talked about her husband-to-be learning to speak her language. “Yeah, he’s been taking classes for probably like six months now. He does it twice a week. A woman comes to the house to give him lessons,” she said. “It’s really, really great.”
