Justin Timberlake Talks ‘Bittersweet’ Decision to Go Solo After *NSYNC

Justin Timberlake is one of the very few former boy band stars who have successfully transitioned into a solo artist.

And in an interview on Oprah’s Master Class on OWN, the “TKO” singer admits he had his fears when he decided to do his own thing after *NSYNC went on hiatus in 2002.

“I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out onto my own and try my own hand as a musician,” explains Justin.

“It was happening all around me. ‘What are you doing? Why wouldn’t you ride this out? You know, you’re the biggest group in the world … Why would you walk away from this?’ It’s one of the best-slash-worst things that I have ever done because it was bittersweet, it was hard to kind of say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing.”
