‘Idol’ Winner Caleb Johnson to Release Debut Album in August

Caleb Johnson is wasting no time after his American Idol win on Wednesday night.

He’s already set to release his self-titled debut album, which will be released August 12 on 19 Recordings/Interscope Records, according to Billboard.

The album will include his first single “As Long As You Love Me,” written by Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, which Caleb performed on the Idol finale.

Unlike some past idols, the 22-year old North Carolina native plans to write his own music.

“It’s going to be really soulful; it’s going to have a lot of depth to it. It’s going to be heavy, and that’s the record that’s going to come out,” he told the Citizen-Times.

Caleb’s self-titled album can be pre-ordered now on iTunes.
