Sam Smith and Mary J. Blige Team up for ‘Stay With Me': Video
British breakout artist Sam Smith debuted a new rendition of his hit single “Stay With Me,” but with a very special twist.
The 22-year-old singer was joined by songstress Mary J. Blige and a live band for a duet of the romantic ballad.
“Working with Mary J. Blige is one of the biggest highlights of my career so far,” said Smith in a statement. “I remember holding her album in my hands in the car when I was a young boy. To meet your idols is a magical thing, but to work with them is truly a dream come true.”
And the feeling is clearly mutual. “This was really fun and@Samsmith is such a great talent and voice,” Mary wrote on Instagram. “Can’t wait to start our sessions together this summer. Get ready Fam for some real new creativity … Thank you for letting me be a part of such a beautiful song!!”
The duet is now available on iTunes and his newest album In the Lonely Hour hits the U.S. on June 17.
The “Money on My Mind” singer also announced his North American headlining tour scheduled to kick off in September. With two hit singles on the U.S Top 10 chart, and the highly anticipated album holding the No. 1 spot on the UK chart, the tour is definitely not one you’ll want to miss.
