Disney to Give ‘Beauty and The Beast’ Live-Action Makeover
A tale as old as time is heading back to the big screen.
After Maleficent soared to No. 1 at the box office grossing more than $170 million globally, Variety revealed on Wednesday Disney will be creating a live-action version of the beloved, Beauty and The Beast.
The animated film was released in 1991, earned a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards, and was later adapted to Broadway in 1994 earning over $375 million world-wide.
Bill Condon, known for directing The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, will helm the live-action adaption and the script will be written by Evan Spiliotopoulos. Mandeville Films will produce the movie.
While we might have to wait a little longer for this beast to become a prince, you can get your Disney-fill in their other live-action adaptions set to hit theaters, Cinderella and The Jungle Book.
