Angelina Jolie Made Honorary Dame by Queen Elizabeth II
Angelina Jolie is an actress, mother, Oscar winner, director, fiancee … and now, a Dame.
Queen Elizabeth II has bestowed the honor on the Maleficent star for her work against sexual violence.
“To receive an honor related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to,” Angelina reportedly said. “Working on PVSI and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”
But don’t expect Angelina to add Dame to her name any time soon. Because she is not British, she cannot officially be addressed as Dame Angelina Jolie, but the honor is an honor all the same, right?
The actress has been in London, where she served as the U.N. Special Envoy at a summit on global sexual violence.
On Thursday, she stopped by Clarence House, where she met with Queen Elizabeth’s daughter-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall (above), who is married to Prince Charles.
