LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are inviting cameras (and the world) into their personal lives with their new reality show, the aptly-titled LeAnn & Eddie.

So were they worried about opening themselves up to the public?

“I guess we’re used to them, they’re kind of always in our face,” the country singer explained when she and her husband called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday morning.

“There’s been so much craziness in the past five years. People have used what they think is our lives for entertainment. We caved eventually because we have turned down many offers to do something like this. This felt right with the right producers and VH1. We wanted to make a comedy. Eddie and I both, we laugh about a lot of things. I think that’s how we cope with a lot of this stuff. It’s about time to getting on with it and laughing about it. With this show, you get to see how we are with each other.”

After five years together, is the couple surprised when stories keep circulating about them?

“I think we all have a pretty good idea why they didn’t calm down,” says Eddie, clearly hinting about his ex-wife, Real Housewives of Beverly HillsBrandi Glanville. “It’s still kind of shocking to me that it’s still out there. Pretty much, like LeAnn was saying, this is an opportunity for us to give people a glimpse into who really are as a couple … how we tick and why we are in love.”

As for Brandi, with whom LeAnne has famously feuded with in the media and on Twitter, she defends herself against the very outspoken reality star.

“That’s been a very one-sided feud,” she insists. “She’s been fighting with herself for a long time. I keep my mouth very shut about a lot of things, and there comes a time when I do have to stand up for myself. Trust me, I ignore things way more than I probably should or could have. I could have gone absolutely nuts, but I don’t want to do that.”

LeAnn & Eddie premieres this Thursday, July 17, at 10:30/9:30c on VH1!
