Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Eminem Lead 2014 MTV VMAs Nominees

After stunning the world with her unexpected “visual” album in December, it’s no surprise that Beyoncé maintains her title as queen for receiving the most nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The pop diva garnered eight nods from the infamous Moonman, including Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love,” Best Female Video for “Partition,” and Best Video with a Social Message for “Pretty Hurts.” Following behind her is Eminem and Iggy Azalea, who both received seven nominations each.

The Australian rapper and Sam Smith make their VMA debuts, with Iggy’s hit “Fancy” in the running for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Pop, and Sam’s “Stay With Me” for Best Male Video and Artist to Watch.

Dueling it out for the most coveted award, Video of the Year, are chart-toppers Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” Beyonce and hubby Jay Z’s “Drunk in Love,” Pharrell Williams’Happy,Sia’s “Chandelier,” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.”

The list was announced Thursday morning via SnapChat with the help of up-and-coming artists such as Austin Mahone, Becky G, and Fifth Harmony. Fans can vote for a variety of categories, such as Video of the Year, Artist to Watch, and more starting today.

The MTV Video Music Awards will air live on August 24 at 9 p.m. from Inglewood, California. With scheduled performances by Usher, Ariana Grande, and 5 Seconds of Summer, this year’s award show is definitely one to look forward to.
