Beyoncé to Perform at VMAs, Receive Video Vanguard Award

Beyoncé has become the latest addition to the list of heavyweight performers at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, the network announced on Thursday.

The “XO” singer, who is the front-runner of this year’s ceremony with a total of eight nominations, will also be awarded with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Past recipients of the coveted title include Justin Timberlake (2013), Britney Spears (2011), and Michael Jackson himself in 1988.

The awards show — held at The Forum in Inglewood, California — will also see performances by Maroon 5, Usher, Ariana Grande, and Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer.

Beyoncé’s lengthy list of nods include Best Female, Best Collaboration, Best Video With a Social Message, and her “Drunk In Love” video with husband Jay Z is in consideration for Video of the Year.

The couple wrapped up the stateside leg of their On the Run tour on Wednesday, and now the “Crazy In Love” couple will jet-set to Stade de France in Paris for their two international stops on September 12 and 13.

The VMAs will air on Sunday, August 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
