Postmodern Jukebox, Morgan James Put Soulful Spin on Maroon 5’s ‘Maps’
The 1970s remake shows a significant contrast from the original version produced with pop-heavy guitar riffs and roaring instruments. Rather than attempting to match Adam Levine‘s other-worldly falsetto, Morgan cools it down into a lounge-approved set with her spellbinding Motown vocals.
Backed by PMJ’s vintage instrumental arrangements, the frontwoman punches a hair-raising high-note while maintaining her classic poise.
Postmodern Jukebox — founded by jazz pianist Scott Bradlee — has also re-imaged Katy Perry‘s “Birthday,” Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy,” and theme songs from cartoon classics including Sailor Moon and Transformers. The New York-based cover group is slated to kick off their Eviction tour this October.
