Justin Bieber Admits to ‘Rebelling,’ Describes His Ideal Girl in ‘Seventeen’

Justin Bieber has been orchestrating a comeback by righting the wrongs that eclipsed his musical career over the past couple years.

Following his public apologies and the acknowledgement of his childish behaviors on a Comedy Central Roast special and on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the 21-year-old echoed the same justifications for his distasteful antics during a candid interview with Seventeen magazine.

“I was rebelling a little bit,” Justin opened up about the bad boy veneer he developed over the years. “I was getting cockier and cockier. I didn’t have people to check me.”

The “Where Are U Now” singer also admitted to being “disappointed” in himself for making poor decisions, and he believes that the best way to plea for a second chance is to “own up to the mistakes.” He explained, “I always want to be honest and let people know that those mistakes aren’t who I am. Who I am is someone who really cares about people.”

In addition to cleaning up his image, JB is seeking a new squad who will provide him with healthy and honest relationships. JB, who dated Selena Gomez on and off, also spoke about his plans to one day settle down with a girl who meets his simple criteria.

“I need healthy relationships with people I can feel safe with. People I can say whatever to, and I’m not going to be judged,” he said. “In a girl, I want someone who’s confident in herself and honest. I have to find her very attractive and as someone I can see myself with for the rest of my life.”

The June/July issue of Seventeen is out on newsstands on May 19.
