Review: Results Are In!
Michael Becker (Fox)
Four more contestants made their exits from "American Idol" last night, three of them accurately predicted by the poll on this website.  John Park, Jermaine Sellers, and Michelle Delamor all received the lowest number of votes from our readers.  Only Haeley Vaughn was thought to have at least one more week in her, although I'm happy that the sweet singer from Ft. Collins, Colorado ("Go Pooter!") was shown door, if for no other reason than to keep her from becoming this season's Sanjaya.  Also, as "Idol" super-fan Lucila Massey pointed out, the flowers in Haeley's hair were strengthening her resemblance to Niecy Nash, and we just can't have that.  But what I'd really like to discuss was the return of last year's 3rd place finisher, Danny Gokey...

He certainly performed his new single "My Best Days Are Ahead of Me" well enough (although I don't really "get" him as a country artist), but after he was done singing, Ryan came over to talk to Danny and that's when the real show began.  Mr. Gokey displayed a certain, ahem, speedy energy that I'd never witnessed from him before, and I think we should all just pray that it was, as my friend Karissa Noel suggested, "just a couple of venti lattes and a red bull."  Seriously, Danny was talking so fast and so much that even I was starting to feel nervous and sweaty towards the end.

Here are a few more observations from last night:

*  When Simon proclaimed "We all know which girl is leaving tonight," do you think he was really talking about Haeley?  Personally, I thought it was going to be Lacey!

*  Has anyone else noticed Randy Jackson's change of wardrobe this season?  Those sure are some colorful frocks he's been wearing lately!

*  It's bad enough that the group numbers are lip synched, but some of the contestants aren't even bothering to move their lips!  Yes, I'm talking to you Alex Lambert...

*  Ryan got in another great zinger last night!  "Simon said it sounded like an audition he could have heard 20 years ago...when he was 40."

*  Does it make you uncomfortable that Danny continues to use the story of his wife's death?

I didn't vote for Danny last year but I love that song. Bought it from the itune store last night and have listened to it at least a dozen times today. I think he has a big hit.

Enough with Danny Cooky. We have much better contestants this season.

Madison, this is a singing competition, not a "who's the most religious" contest. The elimination of Michelle & Jermaine is a reflection of the viewer's taste in singers - nothing more.

Perhaps Danny listened 2 Kris Allen's version 2 "LIVE LIKE WE'RE DYING" 4 inspiration. Afterall, isn't being on the A.I. stage a 1 time oppty 4 those who choose 2 do so 2 either make it or break it?

The comments about Danny are out of line and also mean spirited! Its been less than 2 years since his beloved wife passed away and I am sure he is still mourning. Of course he still talks about her!

Two of the four kids eliminated last night were active in their churches. This is upsetting to me because its a reflection on this country's values. DiDi Benami is the only one left I can root for!

You are being unfair to Danny! He was just excited to be on the show again! His album will be a big hit!

Jesus took the wheel & drove Danny straight to his dealer's house before the show. Yes, it's "uncomfortable" that he continues the "Did I Mention My Wife Died?" horse beating. It's disgusting also.
