After posting a blog addressing some fans’ “disturbing” behavior, seventh season American Idol winner, David Cook, explained that he wasn’t trying to come off as unappreciative, rather, he was genuinely concerned for his safety and privacy. In a phone interview on Ryan Seacrest’s morning show on Friday, David cleared up some rumors about his attitude.
David explained that he, “would never in a million years tell a fan to back off” because he recognizes that “fans in general have gone out of their way to support [the tour].” He elaborated on his concerned reaction, assuring everyone that he “really values his accessibility to his fans.”

“We try to do more than just go onstage and play the shows, and there were some things going on that just really threatened the sanctity of that for me,” David said.
When asked by Ryan about how the blog post was received, David mentioned that “the way that it’s gotten spun around is interesting.” Clearly, he wasn’t trying to offend anyone—especially not his fans.
He ended the conversation with Ryan by promising fans that “the message was written just to put the concern out there. If anything, the intent was there…maybe just not the follow through.”
I find it sad that David feels the need to clear anything up. The message was that the crazy people need to back off.
I love David. He's great at what he does!

I have a feeling MOST of the people who bashed David weren't fans to begin with. They probably saw his blog on another site and wanted to start crap. Your true fans still love & respect you, David!

Oh please DC don't insult the fan's intelligence. It's pretty hard to backtrack with your foot in your mouth. Talk about biting the hands that feed you. Nice try, not buying it.

David goes out of his way to see his fans, everybody knows that. Give him and his band a break - they deserve to have their privacy and should.

I think anyone, whether it's a fan, or the press, should give artists their space. They are doing their best to put on a great show and don't need the stress or worry of all that drama.
I love David. He's great at what he does!
