American Idol runner up Adam Lambert wasted no time getting in the recording studio and laying tracks for his forthcoming freshman album On With The Show, which is slated to be released late summer/early fall.
Friday, PerezHilton.com world premiered Lambert's debut single "Want," a mid-tempo track that is less bad ass and more ballad - and we love it!

The singer told numerous media outlets following American Idol that he'd be working with Lady Gaga's acclaimed producer RedOne, who masterminded such hits as "Poker Face" and "Just Dance."
“I want to go rock — David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get,” RedOne told Rolling Stone of his plans for the album that Lambert is also co-writing. We can wait to hear more!
What do you think? Hot or not?
UPDATE: Perez Hilton reports:
"Apparently, this album WILL be released this summer, which we thought was VERY quick. However, we've just learned that the songs on it were recorded in 2007 and 2008, before Lambert was on American Idol.
It's being released by a label other than the one he signed to after he came in 2nd on the show."
It's just one of several tracks that he leant his voice to as a session singer and the guys he recorded it for are trying to cash in.
