.Change all of your current light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs, put out just as much light as a regular bulb without using lots of energy.
.Don't leave the water running while you brush your teeth, shave, or wash your car. When you wash dishes or clothes, wait until you have a full load so less water is used. Don't wash three or four dishes at a time, wait until the sink is almost full.
.Look for Energy Star label: When you go to replace items and appliances try looking for the Energy Star label, these products are sure to be good for the environment.
.Stay local when buying fruits and vegetables because it saves lots of money. Often the fruit and vegetables you get have traveled thousands of miles in order to be in the stores, which means they had to use lots of fuel, i.e., more pollution.
.Make sure you adjust fridge and freezer temps. Refrigerators consume the most electricity in the household. Maximize efficiency by keeping the fridge at 37° F. and the freezer at 0° F.
.Solar energy is your friend! Although you might not be ready for a totally sun-powered home, you can easily use solar-powered lighting in your yard or on your patio. Try Malibu's Solar Floodlight (

.Save power by buying yourself a laptop. It uses considerably less power than a desktop computer.
.Wire-up your printer so that it prints on both sides of the page as opposed to just one. This can save so many trees!
.Give up a meat dish once a week and opt for a veggie plate instead. Raising produce is "cheaper," in terms of energy, than raising animals. Scope out
vegweb.com to find yummy, meatless meal ideas.
.Get yourself some tote grocery bags so you never have to ask for paper or plastic again. Easy!
