Zooey Deschanel On The Modern-Day Relationship

Zooey Deschanel joined Ryan Thursday to chat about her new movie (500) Days of Summer.

Deschanel told Ryan that her character, Summer Finn, is initially a skeptic of love being wooed by the love-struck Tom Hansen.

She shared that she sees the traditional male-female relationship changing in certain ways.

"I think things are changing and guys are, you know, feeling a little bit more comfortable to express their emotions."

She feels that audiences will love the movie because it's "a fresh perspective on a very well-worn topic...we're endlessly fascinated by it, I think, as a culture."

If you've just gotten out of a relationship and are afraid the movie might drive you into a bedridden three-day chocolate binge, don't worry. Deschanel explained that seeing the film might actually "make you feel better about it."
